Citrus specials from Morocco - from short season to year-round supply

After his visit to Younes and Rachida Tazi of Terra Citrus in July, our product manager Hakan brought back a lot of news. Citrus Caviar and Buddhahand are now available year-round, Kaffir Lime almost year-round. In addition, Wekiwa (Tangelolo) and Kumquat are new to the Eosta range, with ongoing innovation in sustainable pest and water management 

A longer season and new products offer more opportunities to enrich your citrus range with distinctive, organic specialities. 

Citrus Caviar & Buddhahand now available year-round 

Terra Citrus' Finger Limes (Citrus Caviar) flower year-round. Thanks to a test with natural stress management, year-round production has become possible - without chemicals. Buddhahand is also now available year-round, with two harvests per month. Both products are not only unique in taste, but also distinctive in their sustainable growing methods.  

New at Eosta: organic Tangelolo and Kumquat 

New to the Eosta range are organic Wekiwa (Tangelolo) and Kumquats. The Tangelolo is a striking hybrid of tangerine and pomelo. It looks like a tangerine on the outside, but like a pomelo on the inside - with a fresh-sweet flavour and a slight bitter note. A citrus exotic with potential, available from October to March. 

The Kumquat is available from November to March and – uniquely for citrus – can be eaten whole, including the peel.

Smart water use & sustainable pest control 

Sustainability plays a big role at Terra Citrus. For instance, its own 8-metre-deep water reservoir has been constructed with a capacity of over 1 million litres. This ensures sufficient water for cultivation throughout the year - without depending on external sources. 

Innovative steps are also being taken in the field of pest control. In cooperation with Koppert, tests are being carried out to determine which natural enemies are most effective against harmful insects – entirely without the use of chemicals.
