Friend of Eosta praised for victory on oil pipeline

The Dutch leading financial daily paper Financieel Dagblad published a feature article about the battle at Standing Rock, which has been won by the sustainability movement. Chief Arvol Looking Horse, spiritual leader of the Sioux, is the hero of the classic "David and Goliath" story. Looking Horse is pictured as a central symbol of green resistance against the fossil fuel economy.

Not many people know that Arvol Looking Horse is a good friend of the organic movement in the Netherlands. In 2015 the spiritual leader of the Sioux ("19th generation keeper of the Sacred White Buffalo Calf Pipe Bundle") was a keynote speaker at the Save Our Soils congress in Amsterdam. Chief Arvol Looking Horse and his wife Paula were noteworthy guests at the congress, which was organised by Nature & More, the Dutch-based international distributor of organic fruit and vegetables.

The words that Looking Horse spoke were no less characteristic than his appearance. He referred to climate change, saying: "Mother Earth is sick, she has a flu." He pleaded for the "Natural Law" to be placed in the middle of our economy and policies. He also made a strong statement about soils as our common heritage: "We don't own the land, the land owns us."

Some inspirational quotes by Chief Arvol Looking Horse:

  • Knowledge without wisdom is unguided. Just as science without spirit has brought the people of the world to the brink of self-destruction.
  • We fail to appreciate and honor our Sacred Sites, ripping out the minerals and gifts that lay underneath them as if Mother Earth were simply a resource, instead of the source of life itself.
  • A "disease of the mind" has set in world leaders and many members of our global community, with their belief that a solution of retaliation and destruction of peoples will bring peace. We must unite spiritually as a global nation, or be faced with chaos.
  • Each of us is put here in this time and this place to personally decide the future of humankind. Did you think the Creator would create unnecessary people in a time of such terrible danger?
